Launched in January 1995, the R33 GTR Nissan Skyline made a grand entry as the successor to the legendary R32 model. Notoriously known as "Godzilla" on Australian racetracks, the R33 continued to uphold its supremacy.

Enhanced Performance and Power

Despite the strict regulations of Japanese law restricting the car's power to the 280PS of its forefather, Nissan made significant improvements in other aspects, leading to an even superior machine. These improvements include a stronger synchros, a wider oil pump drive collar, and an improved intake camshaft making torque slightly higher.

Dominance in Races

Australians labeled it as "Godzilla" due to its uncontested superiority over Ford and Holden V8's. It continued to dominate racetracks, bagging numerous trophies worldwide.

Record-Breaking Performance

The R33 showcased its prowess by taking the production car lap record at the Nurburgring in Germany. A stock standard version impressively manoeuvered the 13-mile, 172-corner circuit in just 7 minutes and 59 seconds.

Aftermarket Support & NISMO

The Nissan R33 GTR also spawned a large market for unofficial aftermarket performance parts as well as an official one from Nissan's own NISMO ("Nissan Motorsport") division. These parts were designed to handle higher power than the standard 280PS the production model was restricted to.
